Job Training Programs
There are two types of job training programs: optional educational trainings and industrial trainings. The standard practice duration is 12 months.
Сurricular practical training (CPT). Optional educational practice takes place before graduation. Usually its completion is not included in the graduation date and is not included in the curriculum. The time for writing the thesis is also not taken into account. CPT can be done both full-time and part-time. But if a student works full-time for 12 months or more, then the next stage, CPT, becomes unavailable.
Optional practical training (OPT). Additional industrial practice should be related to the specialty of the study course or further field of activity. OPT can be completed for 12 months for each degree received. For example, if a student plans to receive a bachelor’s degree, and then a master’s degree, then you can request an OPT for 24 months.
Most of the students do job training programs on campus. But if circumstances permit, then practice is possible outside the campus. For example, if a student is helping with a professor’s research work that is sponsored by a third-party organization, not a higher education institution.
During studies, you can work no more than 20 hours a week, during holidays – no more than 40 hours a week. The first 9 months of training are not allowed to work at all.
America is a land of opportunity. If you are a talented person with ambitions, then an American university will help you get not only a diploma, but also an important work practice in your specialty.
